The Emotion Conveyed Through the Shot

My introduction to the Kettari Academy’s photography course occurred just three months ago. Before this, I found solace and inspiration in the images I captured through my lens. Yet, since joining the academy, my perspective and skillset have undergone a profound transformation. Nowadays, when I view my work or that of others, I do so with a heightened sense of understanding. I’ve come to realize that a single photograph has the power to convey a message without uttering a word.

During the inaugural lecture, guided by the famous photographer, Temo Kvirkvelia, I sensed that I had stepped into a parallel universe of creativity. “To capture an image is one thing, but to craft it into a narrative is another,” were his opening remarks. These simple yet profound words set the tone for countless enlightening sessions to come.

The lectures were diverse, and tailored to accommodate our group’s varied interests. I diligently absorbed the knowledge imparted, taking notes and mentally cataloging each lesson for future assignments.

I recall vividly my childhood fascination when I first encountered the enigmatic silhouettes portrayed on film. The intricate process by which these silhouettes were meticulously crafted onto paper left me in awe. One of the most unforgettable experiences during my time at the Kettari Academy’s photography course was a lecture held in the darkroom. Here, we were allowed to partake in the magical process firsthand, deepening my already insatiable curiosity for photography. The course not only allowed me to discover my capabilities but also ignited a passion for the art form that I envision shaping my future.

I found a shared creative kinship within the framework of the Kettari Academy, photographer Temo Kvirkvelia, and my classmates.
